Summary: Oracle DBA on Unix and Linux
Comment: This is a book with a high practical relevancy providing a excellent balance between theorectical background information and knowlegde derived experience. The in-depth knowledge presented in this book is from my point of view not only relevant from DBAs, but also for Application Designers and Developers. Myself coming from the application development side, wish i would have had some of the advices before.

Summary: Great Book!
Comment: Oracle DBA on Unix and Linux is easy to read. It has a great flow. I have experience as a DBA, but am a little rusty. This book was just what I needed to bring me back up to speed. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in becomming a DBA, someone who supports a DBA, someone who wants to expand their knowledge of Oracle, or someone moving over to Unix/Linux from Windows. The book does not dive deeply into each topic. It pretty much presents the most important things you need to know. The book does assume a level of knowledge. A first time computer user would be lost. The book does discuss Unix/Linux, but only necessary information. For example, it does not include a chapter on installing Linux! The book also goes beyond the Oracle database, and includes general information on Java, Web DB, and iAS. I have many books on computers, including many O'Reilly books, and this book stands out as one of the more enjoyable reads!
