Summary: There is only one problem with this book
Comment: There is nothing original in it. It is a collection of articles, howto's, stuff from /usr/src/linux/Documentation and other material already available on the web. The book IS well written, a little bit short though, but why buy it when you can't learn anything new from it. They should have been fair and listed all the references.

Summary: Good, but needs work
Comment: Overall I found the book disappointing for a number of reasons. First, they have alot of details on generic UNIX system performance tuning. A number of authors such as Mike Loukides have already treated this subject and done a much better job, in my opinion. The same can be said of their treatment of capacity planning.
My biggest disappointment though, was their lack of details on how to make a Linux server scream, whether a NFS server, a web server, etc. There are some details on kernel parameters, but too little detail to fully understand the potential impact of any changes. Detailed treatments exist for commercial flavors of UNIX on these matters and it would very nice to the Linux community produce something similar.
