Review: WordPress 1.5

Introduction

( Page 1 out of 6 )

Wordpress is one of the most popular blogging tools around, and it has earned that reputation. Originally, WordPress was called b2, which was a PHP blogging tool but a lot less popular. Back then, b2 wasn't very much used, and MovableType was the king of the hil. But a few developers, mainly Matt Mullenweg and Alex King decided to release a new blogging tool based on b2. b2 was Open Source, so they could do this without any problems, just as WordPress is Open Source as well.

Since then WordPress has gained popularity at an amazing speed, and it is now one of the best and well-known blogging tools available. MovableType is no longer the de facto standard, like it used to be, largely because WordPress took their throne. WordPress' future seems very bright as well, and there seems to be no end to the popularity of WordPress.

But what exactly makes WP such a great tool? Let's have good look at it in this review.

If you just want to get cracking with WP, download it at http://www.wordpress.org and install it on your server or localhost. If you want to know more about it first, read on!
